These wonderful atmospheric and sensitively expressed paintings by Shaun Ferguson from the UK are inspired by models in quiet, contemplative moods. Although conventional in composition, his portraits have a strong sense of energy and tension and remind me in the concept of color of Picasso´s blue period. Capturing his mainly female models, in everyday activities, his work involves an intriguing balance between subject matter, painterly considerations and interpretation.
